Taylor Residence

37 Proudfoot Rise, Taylor involved the construction of a three-story dwelling in Taylor, ACT. The project was administered using a Master Builders ACT Cost Plus (Residential) Contract which had a final contract value of approximately $1million.

The project aim was to construct a highly energy efficient and sustainable home whilst maintaining a modern architectural design with high end finishes. Cercol and the client wanted to shift a common misconception that the site orientation, slope and shape must be perfect in order to achieve a solar passive design and that all energy efficient homes must have a simple floor plan with basic finishes. We wanted to prove that high performing and aesthetically pleasing buildings can be adapted to any style parcel of land with careful planning with the design team.

Another goal for the project was to implement a modern methodology which would accelerate the construction process whilst maintaining a high level of quality control so that a high performing building was delivered in a timely manner. We decided to use off-site prefabrication to construct the walls and floors for the entire home. We are proud to boast that anyone visiting the home had no idea that the home was mainly constructed off site and were of the assumption that traditional building methods were used for this dwelling
